C5 woofers and tweeters are precision-built in Germany, incorporating JL Audio’s exclusive DMA-optimized motor and patented Elevated Frame Cooling technologies. Midbass capability is outstanding thanks to DMA and critically engineered suspension designs.
C5 woofers share most of their parts and technology with the flagship Evolution™ ZR component woofers. Their DMA-optimized motor systems achieve outstanding linearity, while the cast alloy frames incorporate JL Audio’s patented Elevated Frame Cooling to reduce power compression and improve power handling. Top-quality Kurt Müller cones and suspension components further refine the package to create a level of performance that is simply world-class.
The 3/4-inch (19mm) silk dome tweeter is incredibly smooth on and off-axis for accurate imaging and a big, stable soundstage. Its tiny neodymium magnet and small chassis give it excellent placement flexibility in the component systems. Additionally, JL Audio’s RSR mounting system permits precise angling of the component tweeters after installation. In the coaxial models, the C5 tweeter’s diminutive size reduces frontal protrusion to improve installability. It also reduces midrange masking, leading to smoother upper midrange response.
As with all JL Audio component speaker systems, a great deal of attention has been placed on the design of the crossover networks, with voicing optimized for in-car performance. Three levels of midrange presence adjustment and four levels of tweeter level adjusHigh-end filter components include precisely wound air-core inductors and high-quality, low-tolerance capacitors. Tweeter protection is also incorporated into the crossover networks.
