It is held secure to the car’s carpeting by Velcro fasteners. The SmarTenU8 covers the rear cargo area and the engine firewall behind the seats. It is completely covered in black carpet to match the interior of your smart car.

The top of the SmarTenU8 provides a comfortable spot for pets while protecting them and cargo.

A floating barrier blocks sound more effectively than traditional vibration dampening sheets (like Dynomat or Fatmat) from the heat of the engine compartment.

SmarTenU8 also protects your carpeting from spills and pet odor.

The secret to SmarTenU8’s amazing sound deadening performance is its half‐inch thick loaded vinyl mass “floating” barrier, a composite product that has been engineered to block and reflect high energy, low frequency road noise, and airborne sound, across a wide frequency range. This state‐of‐the‐art material is manufactured by Cascade Audio Engineering.

How does SmarTenU8 work?

The neoprene foam layer in the sound barrier creates an "airspring" that floats or decouples the dense layer of vinyl foam. It is this airspring that allows for the reflection of high energy sound waves and prevents the sound energy from passing through the dense neoprene layer.

Why should I use a floating barrier and not multiple layers of a vibration damper?

A common misconception is that vibration damping sheets are the best way to block road and engine noise. Although this technique can yield a reduction in the overall noise, it requires 4 ‐ 6 layers of typical vibration damping material. This increases the cost, installation time and the amount of weight added to the vehicle. Save yourself a lot of time, money and hassle by using the SmarTenU8 "floating" barrier.
