Sprint-Booster is a device that improves acceleration by continuously measuring and converting the digital signal provided by the ETC (Electronic Throttle Control) potentiometer, and providing the ECM (Electronic Control Module) with a new, faster and more response signal. Here is a data that we did on a Honda Fit to show the difference with and without a Sprint Booster. The GPS can only start to record once a 5mph min. was achieved so that also shows that it could not be manipulated.
The top line is Acceleration (Red in with the SB, green is without). The bottom line is MPH. The graph is in MPH over time:
![]() The design of Sprint Booster allows for easy installation in all models, without the need to cut any wires or intervene in the automobile’s electronics (it does not affect other systems such as electronic injection, ABS, etc.). Installation is SIMPLE*: 1. Loosen the accelerator pedal module from the floorboard. 2. Unplug the harness from the accelerator module. 3. Plug in the Sprint Booster module inline with the harness and accelerator module. 4. Re-install the accelerator module. Here is what customers are saying about this upgrade: "...took it out for a quick road test. the Unit made a immediate and noticeable difference the car from a standing stop now feels more like when the car would normally hit the meat of the power band. I don't find the throttle overly sensitive. It just feels more right. Much like installing a quick turn throttle on one of my race bikes." "I would say YES there is a performance improvement since the delay in forward acceleration is removed and the car experiences much more urgent forward motion. Not just making noise and waiting. The best way to describe the feeling would be like adding a numerically higher gear to the drive line. But since were not actually changing it were not sacrificing any of the top end performance of the vehicle." " I just had Smart Madness install a Sprint Power Booster in my car, and I wanted to tell anyone who might be interested that it really, truly, woke the car’s performance up!! ![]() For those who may not be aware, the Smart car uses throttle by wire instead of a traditional throttle cable from the pedal to the throttle body. The butterfly in the throttle body opens and closes with an electronic servo that picks up a low voltage signal from the throttle pedal. The Sprint Power Booster adds additional voltage to that signal which eliminates 99% of the throttle response lag that occurs when you push the accelerator pedal down. ![]() ![]() Even though the device does not change or re-flash the engine management computer, since it’s installation the car responds better, shifts quicker, and it takes much less throttle pedal input to get the car moving from a dead stop. Additionally, because of the aforementioned performance changes, the car performs like it’s had an additional 5 to 6 H.P. added to it. The most noticeable change that happened is when I’m climbing a hill. Before, going up a hill in third gear required a significant amount of pedal input to get the transmission to shift down into second, but now that same task only requires about ¼ throttle input and the transmission kicks down into the lower gear with very little lag time. I highly recommend this device, and once you install one on your Smart, you will also recommend one to other owners too. In conclusion and for the record, I do not work for Sprint or Smart Madness; I just wanted to share information about this wonderful device with fellow members and owners who might be interested in improving their car’s performance." "Just got the Version II. It does exactly as advertised. You can feel the difference instantly. This is not a paid advertisement. So far Smart Madness has lived up to their claims." John M. "Before I got my Version 2, I was skeptical of how the Sprint Booster really worked. I read a good number of threads of people who have tried it. It seems like a lot of people who tried it, never had any intentions of returning it. When I had mine installed, I noticed the difference right away. it was more responsive but the big thing that makes it nice is that the car does not jump to 5th gear so quickly. So, unlike before I use to change to manual shifting at least 50% of the time I'm driving. Now, only 1-2% of the time. Definitely a different feel, and you can't just put the pedal to the metal to get the same feel. It's not the same. Believe me, I tried that before I got my Version 2. As for gas mileage, I may have lost an amount not really measurable. I seem to be getting the same amount of miles per tank. If I drove more normally I'm sure the mileage will be the same but at least now I have the option. So, you don't get "terrible" gas mileage. You lose a little (depending on how you drive) but not enough to sell the car." Cisco C. "Sprint Power Booser is for real! First of all I'm not getting paid for anything...just a guy who loves performance. I purchased Version 3 since I own a 2007 600+ hp vette and loves a car to respond the way it should. All I have to say is that this little modification solved one of the 3 major flaws with the smart. Flaw 1- major lag when you push accel pedal....Flaw 2 - Slow shifts (this can be solved with remap of computer)...Flaw 3 - rocking horse feel during shifts (solved with suspension upgrade...I used h&r springs). This mod gives you instant throttle response which makes it much more fun to drive. Car "feels" like it has alot more power. Once you install it..I doubt you'll return it." .... Thanks," - Joe (supersmart.ca) "I got V.2 and love it." " I ordered a Sprint Booster from Smart Madness. Installation took about 5 minutes (just undo 2 bolts from the accel pedal and attach the sprint booster). Took it out for a drive and the car was a lot more responsive. No more lag in the acceleration pedal. ![]() Obviously, this doesn't add horse power to the car but it really makes a difference to me.- Logan (SunDiego on SCOA) "Just got the Version II. It does exactly as advertised. You can feel the difference instantly. This is not a paid advertisement. So far Smart Madness has lived up to their claims." - Jon Mills "Try It, You'll Like It!! ...I live in the Fla. Keys. We have one major road that runs the length of all the Keys, US.1 . In my town the speed limit is 45mph. So everyone is doing 50 or more. It is a four lane road with a suicide lane in the middle. Every time you pull out it is a challenge. Before I had the booster I was always worried about getting out quick enough. Now it is not an issue. Driving a Smart on this road is like playing Frogger live. I couldn't go back to this car with out it. This is easily worth a car payment."...Krusty (on SCOA) "... I test drove the car for several miles after installation, and I noticed it right away. When the car is underway, acceleration is smoother, with a less time lag - a desirable result on the freeway ramp or lane changing in traffic..." 09PassionCoupe (on SCOA). We are so confident that you will love this item that we offer you a 30 day, money back guarantee. Try it out for 30 days and if you do not love it simply send it back for a refund. No questions asked! If you have ANY questions about this product please do not hesitate to contact us at 562-961-6800. ![]() * Please note! If you have a left hand drive 450 model smart car you will need to cut a little opening in the carpet behind the throttle pedal (nothing that can be seen) in order to plug in the module. Once the module is plugged in it will butt up against the carpet. Cut a little opening to allow the module to slide in the slot made in the carpet. Once you plug it in you will see that it is very simply and not noticeable.
